BJP govt strengthened Gujarat’s law and order, helped shed ‘curfew capital’ tag: Amit Shah

Hours ahead of the oath-taking ceremony of Gujarat’s newly-chosen Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and the cabinet of ministers, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Thursday morning said that under the leadership of Patel, Gujarat will progress towards development, prosperity, security and strengthened law and order situation.

Shah spoke on Thursday morning on the occasion of the virtual inauguration of new buildings of Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanand office, Changodar police station and Sanand GIDC police station as well as the inauguration of Kerala GIDC police station, Nalsarovar police station and Hansalpur police station in Ahmedabad.

“I congratulate the newly elected chief minister and I am confident that under his leadership, the state government will be working towards the development, prosperity, security, and strengthened law and order situation of Gujarat,” Shah said.

“As part of today’s program, new police stations are being inaugurated in industrial pockets of Ahmedabad district which is necessary for the law and order situation in these zones wherein a number of companies are situated. Ahmedabad district shares its borders with seven districts so there is a necessity for new police stations for better law and order,” the union minister further said.

“Since the time Narendra Modi became the chief minister of Gujarat, he took various initiatives with his visionary thinking to bring impactful change to the state’s law and order situation. These initiatives included connecting police stations across the state, strengthening of forensic sciences laboratory, setting up of Raksha Shakti University, introducing new companies in State Reserve Police among others,” he said adding the law and order situation in the state has progressed in the past 20 years.

“Once upon a time Gujarat was known as the curfew capital and now it is the same Gujarat in which if you ask a 20-year-old that whether they have seen a curfew then their answer will be no. There was a time that in Porbandar that boards were installed stating that law and order end where the border of Porbandar starts. Today, be it Porbandar, Banaskantha, or other bordering states, the law and order situation has improved,” Shah said.

“It is the BJP government under the leadership of Narendra Modi, Anandiben Patel, Vijay Rupani and now Bhupendra Patel that the law and order situation is working in an extremely efficient manner. Initiatives such as the appointment of 6,000 constables and 1,000 sub-inspectors every year, Cyber Aashvast and Vishwas projects, night vision drone cameras, body cameras, taser guns, stringent acts such as Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime (GUJCTOC) has further made the state safer for citizens,” he added.

On this occasion, CM Bhupendra Patel said, “In any state, law and order is one of the wheels of the chariot of development. Under the leadership of Amit Shah, the law and order situation in Gujarat is such that the criminals have gone underground. Both PM Modi and Amit Shah have taken several steps to ensure safety and security of citizens in India and an example is busting of a terror module made by Delhi Police.”
