Only third time in history

It’s a very rare feat. In fact it’s happening for only the third time in 144 years of Test history. New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel has claimed all the 10 wickets in the Indian first innings at the Wankhede stadium.

‘The left arm spinner ended the Indian innings with figures of 47.5-12-119-10. India were all out for 325 in the first innings of the second Test on a pitch that was taking a little bit of turn. Patel bowled four separate spells of 4-57, 0-16, 2-16 and 4-30.

What would make it even more memorable for him is that he accomplished the feat in his city of birth. Patel, who was born in Mumbai, had migrated to New Zealand with his parents back in 1996.

The 33-year-old Patel is playing in only his 11th Test. He had two five wicket hauls and a best match haul of seven wickets before Saturday’s feat.He made his international debut for the New Zealand cricket team in October 2018.
