In Feb 2023, I had bought shares one day before ex-dividend date. I noticed that the dividend was credited to my bank by the broker (ICICIdirect) and not the company.
When I checked the demat statement, it showed delivery came a day late (T+2 instead of usual T+1).
The problem is the dividend credited is only 90% of total (presumably 10% cut for TDS) but dividend or TDS does not appear in my 26AS or AIS.
After months of follow-up, its in customer service hell: the company RTA said you were not the owner on the record date (which is correct I guess) so contact your broker.
The broker says contact the company RTA as ‘sometimes if company is unable to pay client directly, they pay to our (ICICIdirect) pool account and we then credit it’.
What’s going on here, and how to resolve this? I need missing 10% of dividend to either be credited to me, or added to my 26AS.
