So I’ve graduated this year with a Computer Science degree from one of the top colleges in India. Worked my ass off during the JEE Prep not even knowing what I wanted to do in future. During our placement season I got placed in a company as a software developer (Initially it was a full time offer) but they eventually gave me a 6 month internship too upon my approval. Currently my internship is still going on and the full time employment will commence from November. Now I’m not getting paid enough as a stipend to spend apart from rent, travel and food expenses. It’s our convocation next month and I asked my parents to help me with the ticket and I promised to repay them back after my full time began and they refused. Insulted me indirectly by comparing my package with my friend’s (Sprinklr). I never wanted to be a Software Developer but I’ve got no other option but to choose what they decide. I tried convincing them that I wanted to explore other fields and they didn’t listen a single word, all they hear from are their neighbours, friends etc..my father believe that “This role is good, just do it for 2-3 yrs and you’ll start earning good (which I know is true) even if you don’t feel like it”. I’m really sad about everything that’s going on in my life. Plus the degree which I worked so hard for, will be sent just like an Amazon delivery package. A lil sad and angry about it.
