Why has this movie gotten so popular on social media in recent times? And another interesting thing, why is it’s fanbase primarily male?

  1. **Positives**

    1. This movie was way ahead of its time. It was the “Kabir Singh” of that time if you get what I’m saying.

    2. This movie has one of the best albums in Indian cinema. Every now and then when someone posts anything about the best bollywood album, the name “Rockstar” pops everytime.(on reddit and IRL).

    3. The self destructive nature of JJ/Jordan resonates a lot with the situation of most men nowadays. The whole “Sadda Haq” sequence in the film basically screams “FUCK THE SOCIAL NORMS!” So again, relatable point +1.

    4. Kun faya kun

    5. Kun faya kun

    6. Kun faya kun

This movie, in my opinion, is one of the finest Indian movies within the last 2 decades. It is problematic, yes. But overall enjoyable.

    **Negatives**

    1. It glorifies cheating(although Heer faces the consequences for cheating on her husband).

    2. Starting ka aadha ghanta has a lot of stalking and stuff like that in the name of “saccha pyaar” if i remember correctly.

    3. Nargis Fakhri

    4. Nargis Fakhri

    5. Every single line delivery by Nargis Fakhri
    6. Nargis Fakhri.

  2. The songs are beautiful, in a way Bollywood has almost stopped producing. The lyrics hit you hard, the music is soulful and they are great to listen to, even now.

The film itself was on a very common theme- love and heartbreak but it was presented well, in my opinion. Both the characters Jordan and Heer were nuts, they were self-absorbed yet they definitely connected to each other on a deep level and were non-judgmental and accepting of each other (one of few things I loved about them).

For those who are mature, the songs make us remember the film more fondly. The kids are just hyping up the “sacha khoya pyaar” thing.

  3. There’s a reason this movie is only famous “online” and no one IRL likes it. And it’s very simple: PR.

PR is the reason you see on an average one post a day on movies like Rockstar, Tamasha etc.
